FTP Client Software edit

Just a thought with the list of FTP client software: might be helpful for learners to just have one or two options for each platform - ones that you recommend. We can always link to a separate page with a full list for those interested. Just might overwhelm to have so many options? What things you? Michaelnelson 02:41, 27 January 2007 (UTC)Reply

That sounds like a much better idea. I also agree with a statement in the Notes and discrepancies that it is hard to justify the focus on commercial software packages. We really should focus on ease of use, with a preference for open source softare, or at least free software. --mikeu talk 22:57, 6 July 2009 (UTC)Reply

FTP Scenario edit

I'll add the FTP scenario that i use to get students demoing (with the grading options). —The preceding unsigned comment was added by Michaelnelson (talkcontribs) 21:53, 26 January 2007 (UTC)

A note should probably be added that many firewalls do not allow ftp connections. Programs like WinSCP are free and allow the use of FTP/SFTP/SCP as may be needed. They are also very easy to use. --mikeu talk 21:48, 6 July 2009 (UTC)Reply
