edit@Mads2047: I like your insight about Odysseus's emotional state in Book 8. I wanted to connect that to some of our discussion about his long speech to the Phaeacians where he told the story about his journey after leaving Troy, including what happened with the Cyclops. I feel like your insight into his state can be used as evidence to argue that he is being very deliberate in the way that he is crafting his story...especially given how is insulted about the competition.
