edit@Ira Mstar: Great start. Re: book building, reflect a bit on what the inclusion of a boat building scene means for storytelling itself. Yes, I agree that it points to an inherent interest in sea travel in this society. But why include it in a story? Who is the audience? Why would they look for something like this in a story? Would we take interest in a detailed description of what a character in a novel does on their laptop or car? Imagine different scenarios, one in which the audience is really into the description, and one where they are not. Does Homer have a rhetorical goal?
