I don't think Topic:MediaWiki templates should be merged with this page. Templates can refer to more than just MediaWiki templates, so Topic:Templates should be a more general page than it is. --dark

- This is a topical study of templates and it is not a help page. Participants may study the topics of their choices; there is no requirement for comprehensiveness. And yes, I had mediawiki templates in mind when I started this topic. Mediawiki templates are very special; I don't know of think other wiki engines having remotely resembling them.
