Clean up references from section headers

edit

Section headers shouldn't have references in them. They are mostly used for building the Table of Contents (TOC) for a page, and then the TOC headers are used in page history for edits to a section. References complicate that, and the reference numbers will shift as references shift, so History links to sections will not work any more. I'm going to remove them, I don't have time to do more than that today, but they may be replaced with some text inside the section as appropriate. The first reference header I went to, the reference was strange: to a 13-page article in the Oxford Concise English Dictionary? [1][2]. Something is off here.

  • The removal edits are just before the time of this note, and all the edit summaries are "rm ref". I'm doing this as separate edits to make it easier to work with, I'm fixing the automatic edit summary to the new form of the section header. --Abd 16:17, 15 August 2011 (UTC)Reply
