Are we removing well written stubs?

edit

The community needs to decide whether we want to change what once a policy to allow these stubs. Guy vandegrift (discusscontribs) 06:09, 2 January 2024 (UTC)Reply

As the community decides this question, I am removing the prod from pages where I placed the call for essays. Without doing a statistical analysis, I can report the following from my experimental effort to encourage readers to submit essays:
  1. With high statistical confidence I can say that the "call for essays" will not create a significant number of new contributing editors. By that, I mean that placing this call for essays on every page would have little to no effect, compared with the encouragements to participate already present on Wikiversity.
  2. Though there is no evidence that the "call for essays" will have a significant effect on teachers who might assign essays to students, no claim to statistical significance can be made. This is because it would take only one such teacher to have a potential impact (because one teacher would recruit many students.)
  3. Having stated item 2 above, there is certainly no justification in pursuing this effort to call for essays. However the number of pages with this call to essays is small, and for that reason the damage caused by this stub is minimal (look at the page count.) For that reason, I removed the prod.--Guy vandegrift (discusscontribs) 02:49, 1 March 2024 (UTC)Reply
