The 900 characters

A note in the original text of this resource suggested the following:

• One must elaborate such an index for the book « Perfectionnement à la Langue et à l'Écriture Chinoises » by the same autors, presenting 900 characters or the key to understanding ??% of the Chinese texts.

Reformatting

The page was written in forbidding HMTL code, and still is. In place of the large section numbers, which were largely useless though pretty, I replaced them with normal wikitext sections, which creates a table of contents, and then started to add the character names (which are in alphabetic order for the pinyin), and saw how unnecessary the section numbers are, since the TOC will supply the same. I have more to do with this step. The next step will bring in the Mandarin translation from wiktionary, the user who added the wiktionary links did yeoman work. Some of the characters already have French translations. It looks like the original creator of this page intended to leave them out for copyright issues and merely created this as an index, but missed some. We will use wiktionary meanings, and this will be credited, so no copyright problem. It is now possible to edit each section of ten characters, so if someone finds another error, it can be fixed without much fuss. --Abd (discuss • contribs) 00:25, 15 January 2014 (UTC)
