Arabic and Cyrillic
editHelp~! These links don't work.
- Arabic wikt:كَسْتَنَاء (kastanāʾ)
- Russian wikt:кашта́н (kaštán)

- @KYPark: These work:
- Arabic wikt:كستناء
- Russian wikt:каштан
- It looks like you're using special characters or something. Maybe leave out the diacritics? —guywan (talk • contribs) 19:32, 19 March 2020 (UTC)
- @Guywan: Thanks for your help. Now I can see the trouble more clearly. I was not using anything special, but basically did copy and paste the entries within wikt: chestnut #Translations. Their links work within Wiktionary somewhat magically (perhaps through wikt: Template:T) but obviously not interwiki. The invisible wikt magic may be to standardize the actual minor, say, diacritic differences between dialects so as to gather them within a single standard page name. It could be a tactical Wiktionary practice rather than strategic interwiki principle. To agree with that, we would need some Wiktionary-like wikt:passthrough measure. Yes. That makes more sense. I've added the named parameterdisp
to your template as a quick fix. {{wit+|Russian|каштан|ru||disp=кашта́н}} → Russian кашта́н. The text with diacritics should go there, and the text without diacritics should be the second parameter. —guywan (talk • contribs) 16:35, 20 March 2020 (UTC)

- @Guywan: Well done for "the betterment of Wikiversity"! Not to mention disp=, I appreciate your tagging span. KYPark [T] 05:00, 21 March 2020 (UTC)
