Researched ways to regenerate dead batteries Seems fairly straight forward but there is some level of risk evolved. At one point you have dump the old acid out which is then neutralized with baking soda. I do not mind giving it a go as long as I have all of the proper safety equipment. Sent you guys a power point presentation let me know what you think. Jeffreycarllloyd 16:15, 23 October 2011 (UTC)

The power point looks good to me. Good Job. Palluri9407 17:07, 23 October 2011 (UTC)Reply

Jeffrey: That power point is a great start to sell our idea to the college. I could add more materials to the materials list and revise it a little bit more. Could you please send me or bring a copy of it to class? Criveros0248 09:47, 24 October 2011 (UTC).Reply

Examined the donor motor and determined that it is a vertical shaft design. We will need to fabricate a mounting bracket so that motor's shaft will be in the horizontal position relative to the axle. The motor's shaft is unique in that it is tapered along key way. May have to consult with the donor to see if was mounted with a flywheel or some sort of gearing that we may re-purpose for project.Jeffreycarllloyd 19:25, 30 October 2011 (UTC)

Got the frame done. I will take it to HCC on Wednesday so you guys can take a look at it. I hope to get most of the needed parts ordered by the end of week 3. Criveros0248 10:33, 31 October 2011 (UTC).Reply

I went to the waste facility in Carrol County in search for a steering column (possible donor; a small lawn tractor). No luck, and I was told in stern way "No scavenging". I "scavenged" in the past at the same place but either the rules change or I was very lucky. I may go back through the week and perhaps get lucky again and nobody will be there to monitor.Jeffreycarllloyd 17:25, 5 November 2011 (UTC)

I built a mock up of the motor mount. It is constructed from plywood glue and screws so not a functional version. I attempted to test the motor with a battery from my truck and the one from my car and no luck. My hypothesis is that it was not enough amps to turn it over.Jeffreycarllloyd 11:45, 6 October 2011 (UTC)

Bought used frame and modified it to minimize costs. As of now, it is a rolling chassis great for downhill; I actually tried it with no brakes and it was fast! We have to attach the motor and finish the circuitry if we want to be able to finish it by the end of week 4. Meet me at 5:00 PM on Monday 11/07/2011 if you guys want to see it. I made a more presentable presentation here is the link. Feel free to edit it, but to do so go to this edit link.Jeffreycarllloyd 14:25, 13, November 2011 (UTC)

That presentation is great. I tested the frame and drive train using a 0.5HP motor and two 12V batteries; I uploaded the test-run video. Criveros0248, 19:50, 13 November 2011 (UTC).Reply
