Learning by seeing and seeking

edit

Seeing is believing, hence learning and knowing. Seemingly, however, seeing is passive whereas seeking is active. So your learning would better range from seeing to seeking. Many if not most theories of learning stress the active role of learners, while stressing direct instruction may remain either surprise or inevitable.

Anyway, we will focus on learning by seeking (or by doing with) information especially on things in context, in relation rather than in isolation. Note that learning by seeking is closely related, if not synonymous, to w:information retrieval (IR) that culminates in the w:Google boom.

Indeed, such IR engines as Google, Wikipedia, Wikiversity, etc. relate or add up to new machinery for learning by seeking or the like, including discovery learning, active learning, experiential learning, learning by doing, etc. We have to learn the similarity prior to the difference between things of interest. --KYPark 15:57, 2 January 2010 (UTC)Reply
