A brief list of the similarities and differences between Non-profit organizations and Businesses for profit:
Similarities
- Board of Directors
- Both are legal entities
- Tax responsibilities
- Compensation of certain participants
- Efficiency- budget, resource mgmt, etc.
- Competition- funding, recognition, etc.
- Constituents- B: shareholders, employees
NP: employees, donors, constituents
- Loans
- Deliverables- goods/services, grants
Can be of varying size (from very small to very large)
Differences
- Distribution- B: distribute among shareholders
NP: reinvest profits in programs
- B: Liquidation --> owners
NP: Liquidation --> beneficiaries
- Taxes- B: taxable NP: tax exempt 501 (political), 501(c3)(non-political)
- B: interns NP: volunteers
- Social expectations of compensation varies

Still active?
editIs this project still active? Apart from a collection of external links and almost advertising-like descriptions of some companies, I find almost nothing on these Wikiversity pages that increases my knowledge in conservation entrepreneurship.
