Talk:Computer Architecture Lab

Latest comment: 17 years ago by Schoeberl in topic Available textbook

At w:Universidad de Las Palmas de Gran Canaria we get, in this lab, lessons on VHDL and work on a partial implementation of the DLX processor (by Patterson or Hennesy, I think).

We then are required to add a few instructions to the processor, and later are required to implement either a Branch Prediction Table or multiple functional units (to achieve paralelism in the EXecution step).

May I add some of it here?

Available textbook edit

I have been starting work on a textbook that would be a suitable companion piece to this lab. You can find it at b:Microprocessor Design. I am also working on a textbook that covers programming in both Verilog and VHDL at b:Programmable Logic. Both of these books are new, but if we work together on the books and the wikiversity course, I think we can make an excellent learning environment for this subject. --Whiteknight 17:55, 6 February 2007 (UTC)Reply
