The chart showing the values coming from the Theory of Human Values is missing Universalism which is shown at the top of the Circle of Values.
I think a brief discussion on "Beliefs" would be helpful. At least for me. What we believe may or may not be true but that flawed belief may not impact our values. I have seen discussion claiming beliefs direct values and just the opposite. Values guide beliefs. I think they may be complexly intertwinned. Both values and beliefs can change with time. Not all values are actions (verbs or I dont remember my grammar -- loyalty versus to be loyal. Does it really matter? some values could be stated as a condition -- to be at peace or peacefulness. I don't know because I have had the time or take the time to figure what the Problem Is that I have with this)? I have not yet been able to work through these subtleties to decide what the difficulty is - to Know How I Know. Thus, personally, I would find a discussion on the difference between values and beliefs quite helpful. There is also the concept of "principles" sucn as "guiding principles" that could be considered as well. It's your course and you have much more knowledge and wisdom than myself so i will bow to your reasoning.
Thank you. I found your work on Emotional Competency many years ago when I needed some help in that arena (I still do). S.Zurenko june 17 2024 2601:602:C580:49E0:C46E:13CB:575C:2178 (discuss) 01:40, 18 June 2024 (UTC)Reply
