Discussion of basic technologies

Restructure?
editJust looking at this quickly, it doesn't seem like a learning resource as a giant list, and the ending "reading and contributing" seems like it should best be placed here. I'm not adverse to being bold and fiddling with it, but it's late right now and I'm tired. I have a tab open with it, so maybe in the week upcoming I'll start doing something with it. I have begun the restructure. I've added a bit of content on the top level page, and I ditched the long Nav link in the main body (it's in the sidebar, so it was not only redundant but also very busy, with lots of redlinks). My immediate concern is that the blue links that exist are fairly lightweight and not really of much educational quality.
My vision here is that WV should be a learning _destination_, and not just a link-collection, or it adds no value to a learner. So, I'm going to start modestly and work slowly through the learning resource. To that end, I'm not going to add all of the lightweight links, but rather as a page becomes a learning resource, I'll add it.
I've linked to HDFS for instance, and that is a link farm. In my mind, this resource should have two learning objectives:
- Be able to define and explain what HDFS is
- Be able to do some simple work with an HDFS file system
While a learner might be able to stumble upon that, it's not clear to me that is an outcome of someone following those links. I welcome comments and feedback. Historybuff (discuss • contribs) 07:01, 13 December 2018 (UTC)
