Was the material appropriate to a beginner's level?
Yes. Basic concepts were introduced and explained in simple terms.
The tutorial was focused on distributing ebooks for sale, mainly for commercial or personal profit, therefore not appropriate for non-commercial ebook publishing (i.e. for educational purposes).
Appropriate level of detail for those completely unfamiliar with the topic or the process.
Some content, especially statistical data, was more complex and may be too difficult for first-year students without additional support on understanding statistics. However, the information is not essential for understanding the general concept. Some of the complex content can be skipped over without leaving the audience unable to follow other topics.
Was the production quality of the material good, average or poor?
Good. Audio was clear, visuals basic. Like an audio-captured lecture. On-screen text simple, generally minimal.
Rate the duration of the tutorial – did it take too long to explain everything?
It took as long as it needed to take - not too long, not too brief.
Other comments about the tutorial
- Sometimes needed to close video and re-open from menu. Possibly due to reported internet outages on campus on 13 September.
- Covers additional topics that are useful but not necessarily considered to be essential or relevant to the topic, though valuable.
- Tutorial goes on for a long time before there is any activity/interactivity required from the audience.
- Order of some content is questionable. Sometimes concepts aren't introduced with a basic statement of why it's important at that stage, or its relevance in general.
- Content US-centric. Doesn't account for ereaders available in Australia. How important is this? 3/5 - somewhat important but not critical.
