Suicide/Suicidogenesis

A number of factor may be suicidogenic. It is important to distinguish between factors that cause suicide and those that merely cause suicidality (suicidal thinking).

Platelet serotonin level

Platelet serotonine level might be used as potential periferal marker to detect risk of suicidal behaviour in PTSD patients.

Drugs

When the government started warning about the suicide risk of antidepressants, suicide rates went up. One might speculate this is because people started using them for suicidogenic purposes. It would seem that antidepressants are most likely to induce suicide in those who are under 25.
