Primitive function/Arctan/Via inverse function/Example

We compute a primitive function for ${}\arctan x$, using fact. A primitive function of tangent is

${}\int _{}^{}\tan t\,dt=-\ln(\cos x)\,.$

Hence,

$x\cdot \arctan x+\ln(\cos(\arctan x))$

is a primitive function for ${}\arctan x$.
