School vs. Portal

What's the hierarchy of schools and portals? I'd think that Portals would be like 'pretty displays', attracting people and having more eye candy then the School, but if so, the School being the main content and discussion place should have more priority then the Portal(s)?--Piotrus 02:48, 14 September 2006 (UTC)

Autistic Rights course

I am thinking of writing a course, but I am not sure where it belongs. This would be a course on the Neurodiversity and Autistic Rights movements, which are branches of the Disability Rights movement. Because these are current movements, this course would not belong in a history department; but it even though it concerns developmental disorders, it also does not belong in psychology. I am tackling the issues from a sociological perspective as much as I can, so I thought it might belong here.
Also, I'm new to wikiversity, so I don't really know how to go about setting up a course... if someone would like to help me, I'd be grateful for the assistance. --Luai lashire 19:47, 14 August 2007 (UTC)

I suggest starting a resource like Disability Rights and associate it with a Topic:Social movements department of School:Sociology. Just cover Neurodiversity and Autistic Rights movements as sections to get things started. Later, if it gets too long, split it out to subpages "Disability Rights/Neurodiversity" and "Disability Rights/Autistism".

Just go ahead and tackle! Things can be moved around and re-structured if need be. These are important issues. CQ 22:13, 14 August 2007 (UTC)

Related Department

Hi all, I am currently invovled with the School of History, and especially with the Department of Historiography. This department specialises in studying how history is practiced. Sociology is a major contributor to much of what a historian does. Sociological evidence is a great tool in which the historian uses to support his theses.
