Does anyone dislike the word "clubs" as much as I do? I'd prefer "group", or even "networks" perhaps. I'm interested in working on this page, so comments would be appreciated. Countrymike 07:04, 14 November 2007 (UTC)

Distinction between active and passive reading groups

At present, i am active in two reading groups. The thucydides reading group of me and Erkan is active every weekend on Wikiversity chat. Me and Mirwin are going to read The Diamond Age and will discuss about it next year. These are active reading groups. I have the impression that other reading groups must get started yet. I request to make an inventory on the activity of reading groups, in order to determine which are active or not. It will be hard to measure, since the Thucydides reading group mainly exists on Erkan's talk page and on the chat. An inventory would be a great help for new visitors. They can immediately join the activity, instead of being confronted by texts who have not been considerably edited for half a year.--Daanschr 12:22, 1 December 2007 (UTC)

Daanschr: I left a note on your Talk page about this. I think that groups that have no activity for over 6 months should still be listed, but more active groups designated as such. The current page seems to reflect this quite well. Countrymike 20:52, 2 December 2007 (UTC)

That is okay with me. If nothing new happens the coming months, than it will not matter. And if other people join, than it will be different, new ideas, more structure etc.--Daanschr 21:04, 2 December 2007 (UTC)

public domain texts

When the texts for a reading group are in the public domain, it would be good if the texts are mentioned on s:Wikisource:Requested texts, with a note that this is a Wikiversity request (otherwise we will probably ignore it) - if someone doesnt get back to you, come and bug me. Wikisource contributors will help set up the Wikisource text, and work with the reading group to digitise it. By placing the text on wikisource, the reading group can fix any transcription errors, add wikilinks to other sources or to Wikipedia, ask questions on the talk pages, and even annotate the text.
