In the short term (early 2008), the Meraka Institute is helping to get this initiative moving.

Our role in the medium to long term will be to continue leading this initiative and to collaborate on research, and research coordination where the work aligns with our other activities.

Our other activities are centred around research on ICT. We would like to see some of our ideas and results taken up by developing communities to meet their needs.
