Portal:Complex Systems Digital Campus/CS-DC Strategy Ecosystem

The role of the committee is to take into account the rapid change in the society of knowledge, the exponential accumulation of data and the acceleration of scientific knowledge for permanent adaptation of the CS-DC strategies.

The objective of the Committee is to

  • adapt the CS-DC objectives to the rapid societal change always in the direction of the long term objectives of the Cooperation Program with UNESCO and the Charter

In order to achieve this objective, the commitments are to:

  • revise the roadmap for each UNESCO report (each two years) with the help of the CS-DC Scientific Committee,
  • adapt the charter, statutes and by-laws including the by-laws of the CS-DC series and, most importantly, the legal form of the CS-DC as an international association,
  • implement the CS-DC election system
  • constitute relations with the international learning societies and international scientific associations,
  • devise and implement a strategy for sponsorship, including ‘charitable status’ enabling CS-DC to claim, for example, tax paid by donors,

Project (5 to 10 lines): edit

  • revise each two years, at the time of UNESCO report, the CS-DC middle term roadmap in order to
    • identify the scientific and societal challenges of the CS-DC, synthesizing the scientific challenges of the e-departments and the societal challenges proposed by the socio-environmental committee,
    • manage the dynamic equilibrium between theoretical e-departments for transversal questions and experimental e-departments for multi-level modeling of complex systems classes

with the help of CS-DC scientific committee giving advices on the long term roadmap, of the evolution of the e-tracks in the series of CS-DC international e-conferences In order to produce the first CS-DC roadmap, the CS-DC Scientific Committee has to be in place at the end of 2015.

Linking the CS-DC with all interested parties: Think Tank and workplan edit

Project (5 to 10 lines): edit

The success of the Complex Science Digital Campus initiative is strongly based on being a truly international association that links together all the interested and relevant parties. As for the theoretical scientific aspects creating platforms where researchers and engineers from different theoretical background can collaborate such as random dynamical systems, statistical physics and mechanics, and with machine learning. We need to bridge the gap between data collecting and theory, data analysis of multi-level dynamics: Geosciences recordings and data bases , as well as structural biology data bases. For community building we need to make the links between the different professional association such as the Complex System Society, the International Mathematical Union, and other association like, mathematical Physics, physics, Bio mathematics and more. Another strategic goal should be to connect the researchers community with policy makers in national governments ( as well as umbrella organizations) and public authorities (like health systems) as well as with leaders in the high-tech industry, the social networks and more. If elected, I will act together with the current chair to put all the interested parties in awareness of our initiative, creation in January 2015 of a Think Tank for studying how to put all the interested parties in awareness of our initiative, in complementing contributions and in joint efforts towards strength, effectiveness and efficiency. Preparation a work plan with frequent reports to the Council.

Project (5 to 10 lines): edit

The project-team will propose a legal statute for the CS-DC (March 2015) and will revise for September 2015 its Statutes and By-Laws by:

  • taking into account the past decisions of the Council and the experience of the two last years
  • precising the election rules and role of the Committees (election, role, list of project-teams, ..)
  • taking into account the different ways for the CS-DC to be sponsorized
  • elaborating the by-laws of the CS-DC international e-conference series. The design is taking into account the experience obtained with CS-DC'15.

The by-laws of the CS-DC international e-conference series are part of the CS-DC by-laws. They have to precise:

  • the membership of the CS-DC'xx steering group and its competences
  • the nomination of the Program Chair and of the Organization Chair
  • the tasks of the Program Chair with the call for e-tracks and e-sessions and their selection
  • the tasks of the Organization Chair
  • the tasks of the Track Chairs and Session Chairs

The revised Statutes and By-Laws will be voted by the Council of October 2015.

The project-team has organized the 2014 elections with SurveyMonkey. It will check if there is a better election tool satisfying both the anonymous votation and the unicity of the vote. If not, SurveyMonkey will be used again in October 2015.
