The 1976 Viking's Mission to Mars conducted a labelled release experiment and found that in Mars, microbial life was present. [1].

Methods edit

These experiments displayed circadian rhythms. The release of Carbon Dioxide which is usually released by live organisms while the experiments were taking place may indicate a robust biological response [1].

Results edit

These analyses support the interpretation that the Viking LR experiment did detect extant microbial life on Mars [1].
