  1. Creating new blank documents:
    1. Review Microsoft: Create a document.
    2. Select the File tab.
    3. Select New.
    4. Select Blank document.
  2. Creating new documents using templates:
    1. Review Microsoft: Create a document.
    2. Select the File tab.
    3. Select New.
    4. Select one of the available templates or search for online templates.
    5. Select the template you want.
  3. Importing files:
    1. Review Microsoft: How to recover text from any files by using the "Recover Text from Any File" converter of Word
    2. ## Select the File tab.
    3. Select Open.
    4. Select the location of the file to import and Browse.
    5. Change the file type to Recover Text from Any File (*.*)
    6. Select a file and Open.
  4. Opening non-native files directly in Word:
    1. Review Microsoft: File format reference for Word 2013, PowerPoint 2013, and Excel 2013.
    2. Select the File tab.
    3. Select Open.
    4. Select the location of the non-native file and Browse.
    5. Change the file type to All Files (*.*)
    6. Select a non-native file and Open.
  5. Opening a PDF in Word for editing:
    1. Review Microsoft: Edit PDF content in Word.
    2. Select the File tab.
    3. Select Open.
    4. Select the location of the PDF file and Browse.
    5. Change the file type to PDF Files (pdf.*)
    6. Select a PDF file and Open.
