Klingon/Canon
Introduction
editThe original work by Okrand was The Klingon Dictionary (TKD), which provides a complete grammar, plus English-Klingon and Klingon-English translations. An appendix was added, and later works extended the corpus. Additionally Okrand interacts with the Klingon Language Institute (KLI), who record additional points of grammar and new words.
Canonical Klingon is considered to be that described by Okrand, along with some reasonable interpretation. This is the Klingon language taught by this department.
Many people have invented Klingon words and grammar, notably John Ford, who wrote The Final Reflection. The dialect of Klingon in this novel is called Klingonaase. The works of Ford and others are not canonical.
