Lets look at the criteria answers and consider the questions to help describe criteria below.

When deciding how to word criteria some questions that will help to describe the criteria are:

1. How well does the learner need to perform in order to appropriately achieve the objective?
2. How will we know if the object has been achieved?
3. How is the performance measured; speed or accuracy?

1. Which one of these answers is a bad example of criteria?

...saw a 2" X 4" board.  (this answer does not specify any way to measure)
...saw a 2" X 4" board within 1/8" of the marked line. (this criteria specifies accuracy) 
...saw a 2" X 4" board in half within 60 seconds. (this criteria specifies speed or time) 

2. Which of these answers is a good example of criteria?

...answers must be accurate. (what is accurate? how do you measure this?)
...answers must be to the nearest whole number. (if it is not accurate does it appropriately achieve
the objective?
...answers must be accurate to the nearest whole number.  (this answer provides measurement)

Can you think of two other ways to state a criteria for this type of objective?

Oh now I understand. I'm supposed to be completing applications on USAjobs.gov in addition to this correct? Give me a sign. Throw me a bone. I need feedback and I need it from a human being.
