E-learning
The two hour E-learning component of this key learning objective requires you to read about common values of South Eastern Australian Aboriginal people and reflect on the similarities and differences that your values have in comparison to these. You will also be provided with a choice of two case study referral notes from an Aboriginal Community Controlled health Organisation. You will be asked to reflect on your knowledge about the contents of the referral.
Workshop
The two hour face to face workshop component for this key learning objective will include an overview of what has been covered to date, followed by a group activity where you will be asked to contribute your answers to the second E-learning activity. You will also be asked to participate in an experiential intercultural activity. A review-and regroup-next steps will conclude this workshop.

This workshop will consist of
a. Introduction (5 minutes)
What will be covered today review of e-learning 1 and an experiential activity.
b. A group activity (30 minutes)
Review of E-learning compare answers generated, did participants have the same or different answers?
c. An experiential activity (60 minutes)
The aim of this activity is for participants to consider their own values with those of South East Australian values.
i. Self analysis (15 minutes)
Provide an overview of the four South East Australian values for students. Ask students to write down all the things they can think of that are important to their own health and well-being. Encourage participants to think broadly about their personal practices, social connections, political and environmental practices. Explain to participants that these will be for the group to see to avoid any sensitive personal disclosures and provide participant safety.
ii. Comparison analysis (15 minutes)
Once students have compiled a list ask them to arrange these on a piece of paper under the four South Eastern Australian Aboriginal values and identify any of these that don’t fit under the four values.
iii. Group analysis (30 minutes)
Ask students to place their pages of paper where the whole group can see them and allow students time to view each others’ responses. Begin a group discussion by asking the following questions.
- Did you have similarities with the values?
- Did you have differences with the values?
- How do any differences or similarities potentially impact on how you provide healthcare with Aboriginal people?
- Is there anything you would like to know more about Aboriginal peoples' values?
- How could you learn more about these identified areas?
d. Conclusion (5 minutes)
