VERRU'CULA. The wart or wattle which grows on either side of the throat in some breeds of he-goats (Columell. vi. 6. 2.); and which the ancient artists introduced into their representations of Fauns, to indicate their goatish propensities, as exhibited by the annexed example (Verrucula/1.1), from a marble statue.
