TABULA'RIUM. A record-office, in which archives, registers, and public or private documents (tabulae) were kept; sometimes a separate edifice constructed for the purpose (Cic. Arch. 4.), like the one under the capitol at Rome (Inscript. ap. Grut. 170. 6.), of which extensive remains are still in existence; or very commonly attached as an appurtenance to a temple and other public buildings (Liv. xliii. 16.); or formed in a room of a private house. Paul. Dig. 32. 1. 90. TABLINUM.
