SEMIS'SIS. Half an As; a copper coin weighing six ounces (unciae), stamped with the letter S to denote the value, and the head of Jupiter, Juno, Pallas, &c., with the prow of a vessel on the reverse, as in the annexed example (Semissis/1.1), from an original, drawn one quarter of the actual size.
