PROJECTU'RA (γεῖσσον). The beaver of a helmet, so termed because it projects like the eaves of a roof over the top of the face, as is clearly shown by the annexed example (Projectura/1.1) from an original bronze helmet found at Pompeii. The Latin name is quoted by Becchi (Mus. Borb. iii. 60.), but without mentioning his authority; the Greek one is given by Pollux (i. 135.).
