Games of gain-ground
They are often played outdoor on a "ballodrome" but can also be practised indoor. Among these games, longue paume is the most well-known because it takes place with rackets. Rules vary little according to the sport in question, but the basic principles remain consistent from one game to another. Games of gain-ground are characterized in particular by the use of "chasses" which indicate the limit between both teams. Points are counted in "fifteens": 15, 30, 40, and set, similar to tennis today.
