First Year General College Chemistry

First year general college chemistry typically focuses on introducing classes of reactions, intermolecular forces, thermodynamics, quantum theory, stoichiometry, gases, covalent and ionic bonding, molecular shape, electron configuration (including Lewis structures and VSEPR theory, acid-base reactions and acid-base equilibria, buffers and titrations, solubility and solubility equilibria, kinetics, transition metals and their coordination compounds, and reduction-oxidation reactions. It may also introduce organic chemistry and nuclear chemistry.
