As the holistic study of humanity, it can be divided into three branches depending on the dimension of human life that it focuses on more: Socio-cultural Anthropology, Archaeology and Biological Anthropology.

As one of the branches of Anthropology, Socio-cultural Anthropology also studies the processes that lead to human variability over time and space, but focusing of course on socio-cultural processes. One of those is migration.
This topic is one of the oldest in the field of human studies and also a current subject of research, since people are continually moving around the world, at ever increasing rates and in different ways.
