Engineering Projects/Coanda

Idea edit

The Coanda effect is responsible for a remarkable number of counter-intuitive demonstrations. EXAMPLES: - Blowing on a curved piece of paper horizontally causes it to lift up. - A stream of falling water pulls a spoon up. - Blowing between two soda bottles suspended from the ceiling will cause them to get closer not further apart.

Coanda aircraft look exactly like flying saucers. The effect is used to eliminate the common helicopter tail rotor. The Coanda effect is often confused with the Bernoulli effect. Through vortices the Bernoulli and Coanda effects provide a majority of the lift used to sustain subsonic flight.
