Egg in vinegar experiment

Dissolving an egg shell in vinegar is a classic experiment to do with younger children. If you want less of a mess you can use a hard-boiled egg, but using a raw eggs is a bit cooler; the result of the hard-boiled egg is pretty similar to a peeled hard-boiled egg. This experiment is appropriate for any age.
