09/01 Journal entry edit
Today, Friday, September 1st, I went into downtown with one of my friends using the bus. We walked around, got lunch, and then tried to figure out the bus system, which was quite confusing as either of us had never used public transport before. I am now exhausted and trying to get all of my assignments in before the deadlines.

Summary: Cultural materialism and radical behaviorism both emphasize the environment over heredity and reject the idea that the mind is the primary cause of behavior. They stand against biological reductionist and cognitive paradigms. However, the extent to which they oppose cultural idealism, an anthropological equivalent of cognitivism, is uncertain. The author suggests that radical behaviorism is insufficient in this regard due to its neglect of cultural systemic properties.
