What Did I Do Today?

Today I went to my Financial Accounting class, and played basketball in the fieldhouse. I beat my friend Rothana in a 3-point contest, and then I went home to eat some food, and I plan onc omeing abck to the school at 6 to play basketball with some friends.

For this assignment we had to take a few quick courses that went over a few topics such as the various polices of Wikipedia. Some of these topics include giving information in a neutral way, not plagiarizing work, being civil with other wikipedians, and a few others. It also included information on how to make a good article based on topic that has multiple sources. It also went over some of the functions of our Wikipedia pages. One example of this is the sandbox mode where you can get rough ideas of how you want your Wikipedia page to look without having to necessarily publish it.

I thought these assignments were due on the 10th which is why I am turning this in late. But for this assignment I learned how to evaluate articles to see if they were reliable based on the tone, the citations, and other key components. I also learned how to view and interact with the talk page.

Why Is The Sky Blue?

The sky is blue because when the sunlight enters the earths atmosphere it hits gas molecules and scatters everywhere. The reason the light comes out blue a majority of the time is because it travels in shorter and smaller waves.

For this assignment I was tasked with making a small edit by adding a citation to a journal. I decided to add a references to my journal as well for further organization, and write a one sentence entry about why the sky is blue.

Collaborate with ChatGPT to extend the class discussion: Sumerian Cuneiform

To extend this class discussion on Media & Information Systems I asked ChatGPT what the first oral and written language was, and it gave me multiple languages that developed around the same time in different regions. I decided to ask it more about Sumerian Cuneiform, which was one of the earliest writing systems known to date, developed around 3200 B.C according to ChatGPT. After that I asked it about the first physical piece of evidence of Sumerian Cuneiform which was the Kish Tablet.

Collaborate with ChatGPT in a conversation about possible topics

I decided to talk to ChatGPT about Whey Protein and how it effects the digestive system. This led to me asking it questions related to ,microbiota and their function, which also led to me asking more about the concept of the gut-brain axis which talks about the effects of your food on your overall mood and thinking patterns caused by the interactions of the CNS, ENS and GI.

Collaborate with ChatGPT to extend the class discussion: BCIs and Brain-to-Brain Communication

This discussion with ChatGPT made me realize that there are a lot of things humans can still do to evolve the way we communicate orally, specifically when it comes to BCIs , because I don't know if Brain-to-Brain communication would technically be considered oral or not, but lets just say for this example talking directly to someone through your brain is still oral communication. It also helped me to understand how easily things could go off the rails if the government was able to freely use this type of technology on people, and how invasive it could easily become. But then again would this harm or help society in the long run?

Choose Possible Topic

The topic I am thinking about choosing is the effect of orality and language on music in societies throughout history, as well as the evolution of music. The articles I chose range from the electric guitar instrument, to poetry and hymns in different cultures. Early Literacy and the Manuscript Age Extension: Early Civilizations

To extend the class discussion I asked ChatGPT about ancient civilizations who seemed to be some of the first that developed an actual alphabet system. From there I asked them how these alphabet systems impacted modern language and writing, and from there I decided to ask how it all tied into the spread of religion, more specifically looking at the largest religions to this day, Judaism, Christianity, and Islam. This relates to early literacy and manuscript age because the alphabet and early writing allowed for religious texts to be preserved, allowing the religion to be spread more accurately to many people over an extremely large amount of time. For example the Quran, the holy text of Islam, hasn't been changed since it's conception according to most Muslim scholars.

Orality Connection to Music and the Evolution of Communicating Music

For my project assignment, I am going to talk about orality and music, and the evolution of communicating said music. The way I am relating this to the future of communication is the way that music can be created with AI. There are already programs that can create songs. Although the songs are pretty basic and lack any real creativity, the fact that these tools are just starting is what makes this a potential threat or use to creators. There are many double edged swords that come along with tools such as these, such as anybody people being able to make a song with little to know effort, but this will fill every platform with millions of songs, and start to shut out real talented musicians. It also gives industry artists like Drake or Taylor Swift the ability to clone their own voices with AI, giving the opportunity to make unlimited signs without having to put in any effort of their own.

Later Literacy and the Age of Printing

For my extension of the discussion, I decided to ask ChatGPT about how the printing age and modern literacy impacted dehumanization of specific groups, and then asked it to further expand upon the way it was used to create specific policies throughout history to target specific groups. This is important to understand because it helps us open our eyes to potential policies in place today or even policies that may be created in the future and gives us an opportunity to fight them. To end the conversation I asked ChatGPT how modern literacy and printing can be used to fight against dehumanization, and it gave me many valuable insights.
