Ancient Mithila University

Ancient Mithila University was an ancient university and was famous for Nyaya Shastra and logical sciences. The headquarter of the university was at the court of the King Janaka. There was a council of debate at the court of King Janaka known as Parishad (CIRCA 900 - 500 BC ). It is also known as Samsad, Samiti, Sabha, Parisad, or Parsad. It was a council of learned Brahmins. The council was authorised to award degree and upadhis to scholars taking part in the debates at the court.
