AMITOSIS edit

What is AMITOSIS ? edit

Human beings grow, reproduce, and are alive because of a most important process which takes place in all living beings known as cellular division. Cellular division is of three types in living organisms, namely MITOSIS, MEIOSIS, and AMITOSIS. Amitosis is the process of cellular division which majorly takes in the lower organisms like bacteria. This type of cellular division is a primitive type of division in which the nucleus of the cell divides unequally and then the cytoplasm divides. That is, the karyokinesis is followed by cytokinesis. In amitosis the chromatin fibers do not condense into chromosomes. The chromosomes do not appear as chromatics' and Centro meres are not distinctly seen. During the division of cells in amitosis the chromatin fibers do not replicate as in mitosis. The genetic material does not get equally distributed when the nucleus divides into two nuclei. Thus the two daughter cells do not look identical. Then the cytoplasm which is viscous gets divided that is the cytokinesis.

Characteristics of AMITOSIS edit

1. Occurs in lower organisms like yeast, fungi, bacteria and in amoeba. edit

2. Daughter cells does not have equal number of chromosomes like mother cell. edit

3. Daughter cells thus do not undergo proper metabolism and reproduction. edit

4. Spindle fibers are not formed during cell division edit

5. Nuclear membrane does not disappear during cell division. edit
