Mentoring and competence expectancies

Modern curricula today often define competence expectancies. A mentor should be aware of the competence expectancies of his protégé's curricula. This may be challenging for some mentors but teachers should be willing to help and to prepare material for mentors. A subject teacher only has to prepare material once for any number of mentors. The obligation of the mentor, of course, extends only so far as the mentor is competent to form an opinion about the protégé's competencies concerning a given subject.
