Jesus' triumphal entry is recorded in all four of the canonical Gospels. The celebration of Palm Sunday in the Eastern church is considered one of the twelve Great Feasts of the liturgical year.


Cultural setting edit

Traditionally, Palm Sunday is the celebration of Jesus' triumphal entry into Jerusalem following his raising of Lazarus from the dead. It is considered the beginning of Holy Week and occurs a week before the Feast of Great and Holy Pascha.
