Robert Lowry was a composer, minister and professor of literature in America on the east coast. He is accredited with writing over 500 hymns in his lifetime. although he was well known as a hymn writer, he preferred to be known as a preacher. other songs he's known for include: "Nothing But the Blood", "Low in the Grave He Lay", "Shall We Gather at the River", "How Can I Keep from Singing".
