Creative Commons Licensing

Regarding [1], CC-BY-SA and CC-BY-NC-SA are not compatible. See https://wiki.creativecommons.org/wiki/Wiki/cc_license_compatibility for an explanation from Creative Commons. The contribution / edit box on any main space page (or any other page) indicates that contributions are made under the CC-BY-SA license. It is not possible to convert CC-BY-NC-SA to CC-BY-SA unless you are the copyright holder, and it is not possible to license any Wikimedia wiki page as anything other than CC-BY-SA. -- Dave Braunschweig (discuss • contribs) 17:23, 8 October 2019 (UTC)

FYI, my "proposal" was that on certain pages the CC-BY-SA be 'replaced' by CC-BY-NC-SA as per the "other conditions may apply" mentioned at the bottom of the page. Keep in mind two things:

1. It is not reasonable to approach the WMF with such a complicated proposal in order to marginally improve one resource.
2. My main point was that administrators should not be second guessing each other's decisions without good reason.

LongPages

FYI, I was looking at Special:LongPages and noticed that there were a few that you created (like Quizbank/HTW/FE) that are very close to the MediWiki maximum page size of 2MB. --mikeu ^talk 20:11, 26 October 2019 (UTC)

Mu301 Thanks for pointing this out. I noted that you did not ask me to delete the pages, but went ahead and looked at them anyway.

1. If you look at this log you will see that I deleted a number of low quality and largely unviewed pages.
2. It would also be possible to delete these-two pages since the same information is available elsewhere.

More deletions could be made, but only if I reorganize the pages. Some of these pages are long because they involve numerical problems with 20 or so random number inputs. While this might take a bit more space than software with an equation for the answer, I find it easier to program the questions this way.--Guy vandegrift (discuss • contribs) 21:50, 26 October 2019 (UTC)

It looks fine. I just wanted to give you a heads up that you were getting close to the limit. It is probably better to create new content that is that large in pages that are split in 2 or 4. That makes it easier/faster for smaller/older devices to render the page. --mikeu ^talk 22:05, 26 October 2019 (UTC)
