Summary

Description

The 15" refractor at Comanche Springs Astronomy Campus had its finder scope (a Stellarvue 80/9D achromat) equipped with a Baader Herschel Solar Wedge and a Solar Continuum Filter for today's transit of Venus.

This is a snapshot using the self-timer mode of my Pentax istDS DSLR and a 20mm Plossl eyepiece in a Maxview eyepiece projection adapter. This rig is so heavy it sagged the focuser a bit, so the left edge of the Sun's image is a bit out of focus.

You can see a few small sunspots as well as the disc of Venus.
