if this is not the course for musicians, but rather sound designers, why is it linked to as Film scoring for musicians? also, on linux there's is xjadeo with jack transport where it is easily possible to sync audio and video. rosegarden or MusE both support jack transport. so "NO Linux" is a bit misleading.
