1870, Lowry Egerton Cole was named as co-respondent (along with Albert Edward, Prince of Wales) in the Mordaunt divorce case.[3]

1875, the Mordaunt case was ultimately decided and the divorce granted because Lowry Egerton Cole did not dispute his paternity of Harriet Mordaunt's daughter Violet.[3]

1899 July 11, Florence Anne Cole and Hugh Cholmondeley, 3rd Baron Delamere of Vale Royal married.[4]

The Earl and Countess of Enniskillen edit

At the Duchess of Devonshire's fancy-dress ball, Lowry Egerton Cole, 4th Earl of Enniskillen sat at Table 12 in the first supper seating, escorting the Duchess of Somerset.[6]

Charlotte, Countess Inneskillen also attended.

Lady Florence Cole edit

Lafayette's portrait of "Florence Anne (née Cole), Lady Delamere as Hortense Beauharnais" in costume is photogravure #266 in the album presented to the Duchess of Devonshire and now in the National Portrait Gallery.[7] The printing on the portrait says, "Lady Florence Cole as Hortense Beauharnais."[8]

Hortense de Beauharnais (10 April 1783 – 5 October 1837) was Queen Consort of Holland, married to Lois Bonaparte, brother of Napoleon I.[9] The portrait of her (left) is not the original for Lady Cole's dress, but she looks more similar to Lady Cole's age in it and less regal than she does in many of her other portraits. It is in a private collection.[10]
