Italian literature

As a first step to build up the course of Italian literature on Wikiversity, a list of the major Italian Authors of the various historical periods is offered here, with connections to their articles on Wikipedia (and other Wiki Projects). In fact, on Wikipedia already exists good information about these Italian Authors and links to their works. This information offers a basic overview of the Italian literature. Later on, a narrative will be added to better describe the various Authors, and their cultural and historical background.

Italian Literature edit

Italian Literature is usually divided into six major periods:

  • Medieval, from 1200 to about 1400
  • Humanism and Renaissance, from about 1400 to about 1550
  • Baroque, from 1550 to about 1700
  • Classicism and Pre-Romanticism, from about 1700 to 1815
  • Romanticism and Realism, from 1815 to about 1915
  • Decadentism and Contemporary, from 1915 to the present
